General Dentistry Services in a Welcoming Environment
Dr. Morrison can perform a complete range of general dentistry treatments at our Rockwall, TX, practice to help keep you and your family at peak oral health. While prevention is our primary goal, we also provide outstanding care for a variety of dental concerns. At Rockwall Family Dentistry, we can place traditional braces to realign your smile. We also offer comprehensive therapy for TMJ disorder, and can implement sleep apnea treatment to help you achieve a better night’s rest. Our team treats patients of all ages. With small children of our own, we are passionate about providing outstanding care for children and teens. Regardless of your dental needs, we can carry out personalized procedures to enhance and protect your oral health for many years.
Traditional braces can correct virtually all orthodontic concerns. They are comprised of brackets, attached to each tooth and connected by a ligature wire. By periodically and gently tightening the wire, Dr. Morrison can create a slight pressure to shift your teeth over time. At Rockwall Family Dentistry, we place both standard metal brackets and porcelain brackets. With its natural color, porcelain can be a great option if you are concerned about the look of braces.
TMJ disorder, or TMD, develops when your jaw joints are damaged. Alternatively, TMD may arise due to inflammation in your jaw muscles. We offer several types of appliances to realign your jaw and take pressure off your joints. Additionally, Dr. Morrison will use the TruDenta® system to evaluate the force of your bite and make a diagnosis. This system also uses ultrasound therapy, cold lasers, and manual massage to achieve dramatic relief.
If you suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, or OSA, you likely wake up numerous times each night due to cessations in your breathing. These interruptions are caused by sagging soft tissues, which block your airways. Often, you may not be aware that you are waking up. However, you will be acutely aware of chronic fatigue, irritability, frequent headaches, and other related symptoms. To treat sleep apnea, we will typically provide patients with an oral appliance. These devices are highly effective and more convenient than CPAP therapy.
At Rockwall Family Dentistry, we are dedicated to making dental treatment fun. As parents, we know how kids think, and with our friendly demeanor, we can help our young patients relax in the dental chair. Our whole team is committed to patient education. We outline all treatments ahead of time, using soothing and easy-to-understand terms. We will also explain to both you and your child the best ways to maintain good oral health at home.
Fluoride treatments are an important component of pediatric dentistry, but adults can benefit from this treatment as well. Fluoride is a mineral that helps to strengthen dental enamel, particularly in the developmental stages. We can provide topical varnishes in the office. You can also choose take-home supplements to administer at your own convenience.
We always recommend tooth extraction as a last resort. But in cases of severe dental trauma, serious gum disease, or widespread decay, this procedure may be necessary. We can also perform wisdom tooth extraction if these molars are causing crowding or other problems. Rockwall Family Dentistry provides gentle, stress-free care. Plus, as part of your treatment plan, we will help you choose the most appropriate restorative option to replace your extracted tooth.
Root Canal Therapy
If you have an infected tooth, we will typically recommend root canal therapy. This treatment is designed to eliminate bacteria and diseased tissue. It will also strengthen your tooth and restore its full function. During this procedure we will clean out your tooth and root canals, using very gentle techniques. Then, after reshaping the area, we will place a soft filling. Finally, we will attach a custom-made crown. In some cases, we can complete this procedure in just one appointment.
If you are feeling anxious about your upcoming visit, our three sedation options can help you relax in the dental chair. You may also benefit from sedation if you are planning to undergo a more extensive procedure, such as multiple extractions. During your consultation, we will explain nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, and IV sedation. Then we will help you select the method that is most suited to your health needs, budget, and anxiety level.
